Under The Olive Tree Collection

Sitting in a space where things pause and yet what needs to pass by will so with the wind.
We crave moments of rawness, we crave moments of growth. We crave what is real and life-giving.
I remember the first time I really sat under an Olive tree, it was in Morocco. There was something very peaceful and yet very raw about those moments. Now I am here in Rome and the countryside is filled with them. I love being around them.
I might say I am a little like an olive tree, takes time to produce things, needs rest and peace. Desires to be in community (around other olive trees). Needing space to reflect and celebrate. Needing a farmer to prune back branches so new ones can grow in spring time.
Olive trees need all four seasons. Winter creates space for rest and restoration. Spring brings a lot of new buddies and tacking unpredictable weather. Summer is where the olive tree shows its strength with standing heat and dry winds. Fall comes harvest and yet also a season where pruning must take place. Our spirit, souls and body needs all four seasons.

Grace is something we can not earn, it is freely given, unmerited favor of God's love. When you first approach an olive tree you know what is to come will be good. Yet when you sit under an olive tree in the middle of summer, the heat is still present, yet from the color of small leaves the heat bounces off and the wind dances around you. The uncomfortableness of life becomes a little lighter. Still present, but the shade provides comfort and a presence that causes your thoughts to be at ease.
In these moments we can take hold of grace. We can know the strength of the Father that is shown through the olive tree is ever so present. Even in the midst of the heat, we can pause and focus back on His grace that dances around us or reflects off of each leaf to catch our attention.
He gives us nature to see, recall and remember who He is.

To find a space where you can breathe, is like a valuable treasure piece. You hold it close to your heart and know where it is at all times. Sometimes we can walk to it without losing our breath. Other times we are on our knees breathing deep and breathing hard trying to get to it.
What would it look like to enter that safe breathable space daily? Where we create a rhythm out of taking control of our breath and slowing ourselves down. A habit out of taking control of our breathing and carrying it throughout our day.
Life will happen, things can change fast. When a new habit is created; a new way we react to unexpected things is also created. We start to see this space of being present, breathing and recognizing our direction is up to us. We start to feel empowered to respond differently.
A space to breathe, it does not take away all the muddiness of the day, but it can calm our minds so our body and soul can breathe. We were made to breathe with peace, confidence and might.

Olive trees can withstand a lot. Their roots go deep. The trunks are strong and solid. The branches can hold 3 times its weight. They go through seasons of hibernating to grow, and they go through extreme heat from the summer sun. Then to be harvested and trimmed back.
We are very similar to Olive trees. Our roots were made to grow deep. Our bodies were created for seasons of rest. Season of growth and pruning. We were not made to be just left alone. We were created to have a farmer take the time to care for us, prune us, and create spaces where new growth can take place.
Maybe being the Olive Tree is what I was created to resemble. Something that allows others to care for me, helps me to see places of growth and areas that need to be pruned back. Maybe even to be a space where others can come and breathe and know they can just be.
This is the life I want to create.
