The Quiet Collection
When you can actually feel the cool breeze on your face.
When you can feel the soft colors of nature.
When the busyness around you becomes silent. But your smile still remains.
When your mind finds freedoms from your thoughts.
When your spirit is full of joy and your lips can say it is well with my soul.
You start to thrive and cause a ripple reaction to those around you.

We need space to play. To get messy, to get lost in wonder and play. It can be a space where our minds become silent and our spirits come alive. It's the act of letting go of control.
It gives room for gratitude and becomes a joy we walk in. Where colors collide and new ones are made. Where our dreams become something we walk in. Taking what is a thought and creating space for the building to take place.
Create space for your mind to play, and then take your next steps in blessings (gratitude’s). See what happens.

There is a fluidity aspect of our thoughts sometimes. We have days when our thoughts are grounded and solid. Other days they feel like the wind with clouds of thoughts moving and changing shapes every few minutes. Sometimes, I feel these are the days that say hey this is me. Where I don't beat up myself for being fluid, but I embrace the beauty of things changing and shifting. I choose to celebrate the journey I am on and create beautiful things.
This painting reminds me of space where the earth and sky meet. Yet they seem to flow together and create a beautiful harmony. May my life resemble just that flow harmony.

I am grateful for the things I have walked through.
I am grateful for the no’s that have given me space to be present.
I am grateful for the view of my city.
I am grateful I get to learn to be a child again.
I am grateful for the sunrise and sunset. The way they give space to each other everyday.
I am grateful for body, spirit and soul,
I am grateful for the ability to see colors.
I am grateful you see me, Father, as a treasure.
What we speak into ourselves, will be the over flow of our hearts and out of our mouths.

I feel so grateful I get to pour my creative process back into the feet of Jesus. The act of getting lost with Him in creating is one of heaven treasures. I hold so gently and with gratefulness.
There are moments when life gets blurry, things start to feel like it's all blending together. I can feel like control is out of my hands. In these moments, I find my hands craving to create. To enter into that space where each brush stroke is intentional and yet freeing. It’s a weird mix and yet, it's a space where a grateful heart meets everyday life.
Our days are not always full of easy walks and peaceful moments. So creating space where I can choose to take my thoughts captive and walk in them when life gets blurry has been a journey. It’s a journey I am willing to go on everyday. Because the reality is, by choosing gratefulness, walking in joy when life is hard, has brought me into a mind space of being able to journey with things with freedom.

Mondays always show up. They are bold, gripping and sometimes can feel controlling. We allow them to start us instead of us, starting them.
So I chose to change this. Monday morning, I choose to create habits and rhythms for the day that will speak life into the start of the week and carry on. Even when life throws something hard or new into it, I grab ahold of it and surrender it at the feet of the Lord.
This painting is me doing that. Each color and stroke with intentionality. Thoughts that only speak life and thankfulness into every step I take. The colors are full of tons of earth and nature, pigments that carry softness and yet boldness to them.
I chose to create something new. My past is my past and is a part of me, but not what defines me. I get to choose that. With the gift of surrendering what I can not control to the Father, it creates freedom for where I then take my next steps.

It all happens in layers and I am thankful for each one.
Grateful for…
The stranger who helped me today.
The family member who always shows up for me.
The way nature gives life to us.
The way my body can heal.
The unspoken prayers of my heart.
The miracles I have seen unfold in front of me.
Not knowing what tomorrow will look like.
Not living in regret of yesterday.
The things that have come to an end
The things that will bring many new beginnings.

La terra means earth land or soil in Italian. There is something so grounding to me about this painting. I envision this plant next to a snake plant in an office space. Or next to the place you keep your earth grown veggies inside. It just feels like it would pair so well with something that is alive. In my studio this painting lived by my banana leaf tree. The creams and browns are soft yet grounding. With a green plant close by it felt like the roots of the plants were taking life in a painting.
So often we need this, for someone to look below the life we are growing and see our roots, how alive and active they are the soil of our lives.
Listen to others, hear about the journey they have gone on to let their roots take on great depths to create them to who they are now. Each one to be celebrated, and cherished. It's not just about the fruit on the outside but what is taking place on the depths of who we are.

Everyone is on a mental health journey. Some people take on a private look while others are public. To put the mask on that everything is ok, is even heavy to pick up. Anxiety of the future, regrets of the past that cause depression. We are told to be present, silence the voices in our minds. How? Maybe if we just start with counting our blessings, speaking out loud the things we are grateful for, we will see how that could lead us from silence to being present. A space where quietness takes over and the next step is a smile, a kind thought about ourselves and then overflowing onto others.
It just takes one step, one day at a time, one blessing spoken out loud to start changing the atmosphere in and around us. We just need to grab ahold of being bold and just start.
What are you grateful for today?
